Brian D. Murphy is an associate in the San Diego office who practices in the area of insurance litigation. Mr. Murphy has represented clients in state and federal court and has served as lead trial counsel on numerous jury and bench trials, as well as matters that have been submitted to arbitration and mediation. He is admitted to practice law in the State of California and is admitted in all four United States District Courts in California (Southern, Western, Eastern, and Northern).
He has represented a diverse range of clients including insureds in personal injury matters; insurance carriers, reinsurance carriers, municipalities, large and small businesses in the biotech, chemical, communications, construction, education, entertainment (film industry), freight forwarding, healthcare, automobile insurance, law enforcement, manufacturing, nursing, and retail industries. Mr. Murphy has defended large businesses in major asbestos and perchlorate class action lawsuits. Mr. Murphy works extensively with insurers nationwide.
In the personal injury/traumatic brain injury/wrongful death areas of insurance defense litigation Mr. Murphy has managed in excess of 150 cases. He has won numerous motions for summary/adjudication and several jury and bench trials.
In the employment arena, he has defended employers from claims including wrongful termination and gender and sexual orientation discrimination as well as sexual harassment, unfair competition, Labor Code and IWC violations, breach of contract, and wage and hour issues, including wage and hour class actions.
Mr. Murphy is also very dedicated to pro bono matters. In fact, he has actively represented clients in pro bono matters from 2006 to 2009. At his previous firm he was recognized in 2008 and 2009 for his dedication to his pro bono clients.
