Biography

Vanessa Novak is an associate in the Newport Beach office of Bremer Whyte Brown & O’Meara LLP focusing on modern family formation and dissolution of marriage for traditional and non-traditional families, including dissolution of same-sex relationships.

Ms. Novak specializes in all aspects of family law from prenuptial and marital agreements, divorce, spousal support, child support, child custody and visitation, complex asset and debt division, and issues stemming from nonmarital cohabitating partners.

She also handles adoptions, paternity cases, guardianships, limited conservatorships, surrogacy and insemination agreements, and the preparation of wills, trusts, advance health care directives, and power of attorney instruments.

Ms. Novak is a member of the State Bar of California and admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, a member of the Family Law Section and Trusts and Estates Section of the Orange County Bar Association, and a member of the Orange County Jewish Bar Association.

Ms. Novak obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana before receiving her Juris Doctor Degree from Whittier Law School, Costa Mesa, California in 2008.

During her law school career, Ms. Novak clerked for the Honorable Wendy L. Lindley of the Superior Court of California and externed at the Children’s Rights Center. Before attending law school, Ms. Novak worked at the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law, volunteered at the American Civil Liberties Union, and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem.

Before joining forces with Bremer Whyte, Ms. Novak owned and operated the Law Offices of Vanessa Novak in Costa Mesa, California, from 2009 through 2011 practicing family law.
